Apostille
On January 11, 2024, Canada joined the Hague Convention of Apostille which facilitates the verification (legalization) of documents in Canada. For an Apostilled document to be used abroad, you first need to have it notarized or certified by a local notary public or authority.
Then, the document is sent to the provincial or territorial government’s authentication office, which attaches a certificate confirming the document's legitimacy which is typically done by Official Document Services, Ontario. For federal-level documents, Global Affairs Canada’s Authentication and Service of Documents Section handles the process.
This authentication confirms that the signatures and seals on the document are genuine, and, validates it for international use which has the same legal effect where it is used.
We ensure your documents are properly notarized and legally binding. Reach out for more information.
